And Ms. Ella is not content with just giving you one rendition- she segues into a second, revival-like scat version, after which she begins calling out to the audience- her best friends for 40 years of performances. (A snippet of this show was included in the Ella documentary on AMERICAN MASTERS, but not this wonderful song...And, if I'm not mistaken, that dress in reality is a beautiful peridot green.)

She wasn't human coz no human can do what she did: she brought the composer's work to a level that the composer himself didn't have in mind. She enhanced the composition to such an extent that not only surprised the authors but no other performer could match her in uniqueness, originality, creativity, technique, stage confidence and charm. She crawled into the song and became the song itself but in a new presence: transformed into a most beautiful new creation, unknown to human eyes and ears.
